Preventing Heat Exhaustion In Children

| Blog.

for college can feel overwhelming. If you are about to head off to college at a university or college that is far enough from home that you won’t be able to make a quick trip home for any essentials that were forgotten, it can be confusing to figure out what to pack, how to pack it, and how not to forget anything.

Fortunately, there are plenty of resources available to help. It is likely that the college you will be attending has provided a list of common things students bring, and you can always head to the Internet or social media to ask friends what they have brought or plan to bring. But the best way to determine, for yourself, what you may need is to make a list.

Perhaps you need some help starting? We can help.

For your bed:
• Sheets
• Blankets
• Comforter or bedding set
• Pillows/pillowcases
• Storage for underneath can be helpful
• Alarm clock

For your desk and school work:
• Your laptop and charger
• Writing utensils
• Notebooks or binders
• Headphones
• A mouse
• A printer and ink if your school does not provide you with printing access for free

Don’t forget to pack your clothes:
• Hats, gloves, scarves
• Pants
• Shirts
• Jeans
• Jewelry
• Shorts
• Shoes
• Sweaters
• T-shirts
• Gym clothes
• Swimsuit
• Underwear
• Hangers
• Soap and softener to do your laundry (yes, you will have to do it!)

Will your dorm have a kitchen you can use?
• Bottled water
• Can opener
• Microwavable meals
• Pots/pans
• Pizza cuter
• Plastic containers for leftovers
• Water filter
• Ziplock bags

And don’t forget all of your personal hygiene and bathroom necessities!

What are you planning to pack; do you have anything to add to the list? Remember, making a list and writing it down forces you to think about what you will bring, and checking everything off as you pack it gives you the security that you are not forgetting something important.

Good luck this semester!
