On a warm summer day, there might nothing better than cruising the water on your boat. Boating is about enjoying time with family and friends and enjoying the relaxing scenery. If you love boating, you know how hard it would be to imagine life without your watercraft. While you enjoy your time on the water, let the experts at Safeguard Insurance worry about your watercraft insurance.
About Watercraft Insurance
Whether you own a PWC, jet ski, fishing boat, pleasure boat, houseboat or yacht, at Safeguard Insurance we have the experience and insurance carrier relationships to find you the right watercraft coverage, at the right price.
Our watercraft insurance plans can provide you with coverage against many different types of loss. We offer:
Bodily Injury and Property Damage Liability Coverage
During the course of your boating, you may be responsible for injury to others or damage to the property of others. This is called 3rd party liability and is covered under the Bodily Injury and Property Damage Liability portion of your watercraft insurance. Most policies also include liability for damage or injury caused by water skiing, tubing or wakeboarding, sometimes called “watersports liability”.
Medical Payments Coverage
This provides coverage for necessary medical care that results from a boating accident. The named insured and any passengers in the boat are typically covered. Some policies will also provide coverage for injuries to a guest that is water skiing or on a towable.
Uninsured Boaters Coverage
Not everyone that operates a watercraft is responsible enough to carry liability coverage. If you are in an accident with an uninsured boat, this coverage will provide for bodily injury payments to all occupants of your boat.
Physical Damage Coverage
This protects your watercraft from damage while in the water, or while being trailered. On-water collisions and groundings happen and making sure you have the proper coverage is critical. In addition, your boat could be damaged while being trailered or even while in storage. Physical damage coverage is based on the current value of your watercraft and is subject to a deductible.
All that stuff you keep on the boat – ski’s, wakeboards, towables, coolers and everything else – needs to be insured for loss or damage. Personal effects coverage is available up to $5,000 with a $250 or $500 deductible.
On Water Towing & Labor
If you run out of gas or have a mechanical breakdown in the middle of the lake, you will be glad your policy included coverage for towing and labor. We can offer limits up to $1,000 with no deductible.
Fuel Spill Liability
If you are responsible for an unintentional fuel leak or spill, even while filling your tanks, this coverage can be invaluable to pay for any property damage or bodily injury claims.
Whether you’re a lifelong boater or just getting started, it’s always a good idea to take a close look at your new or existing marine policy. In fact, a pre-season watercraft insurance review should be part of your watercraft maintenance checklist! Let the team at Safeguard Insurance help you find the right watercraft insurance policy, at the right price.
