Here in sunny Las Vegas, owning a pool is very common. With temperatures that are typically fairly tropical, and summers that are warm and sunny, a dip in the pool can seem very necessary and welcomed. However, the cool, refreshing water in your swimming pool may not feel so welcoming if it is not properly maintained.
Homeownership comes with a long list of responsibility. When it comes to safety and liability, we feel anyway, that maintaining your pool should be at the top of the list. You may or may not have had it covered in recent months if it was not being used, or maybe you keep your pool open year round. Either way, we recommend you follow some typical safety procedures that will help keep your pool safe for you, your family, and all of your guests this season. Here are some great pool cleaning made easy tips to keep your water crystal clear and ready for the swimming season:
- When it comes to the chemistry of the various chemicals in your pool, you will want to monitor them at least 2-3 times per week during the peak of summer. In the winter, you do not have to check as frequently – only once per week. This attention to detail will ensure that your pool maintains the right chemical composition.
- In addition to the chemistry in your pool, you will also want to check the chlorine at least once a week. You’ll want to pay attention to the flow and make sure the chlorine tablets are in the unit, in order to properly maintain adequate levels in your swimming pool.
- After a heavy storm, and every few months (depending on the frequency of use of your pool) you will want to clean your filters.
- Keep track of any cracks around the perimeter of your pool, or between your deck and your tile. You will want to caulk that right away.
Also remember that you want to keep any plants, animals or chemicals (that don’t belong to the pool) away from the pool entirely.
