Safety Advice for Your Teenage Driver

We recently read a news article about how a father and son in Las Vegas have started a teen safety driving program and it got us thinking: Teen drivers are involved in many car accidents annually and what can we do to help? As a reliable insurance agency offering auto insurance, we want teenagers and parents to understand the risks young adults face when they get behind the wheel. So what type of information is out there available to teen drivers and their parents?

Safety Advice for Your Teenage Driver

To help you as a parent of young drivers, we have compiled some safety advice for your teenage driver:

  • Texting and driving: It’s no secret that teenagers are addicted to texting to their friends. Texting is OK as long as it is kept away from the wheel. Texting while driving is simply not worth it and we implore you to instill this rule into the head of your teenager.
  • Seatbelts: Many people—not just teenagers—don’t feel the need to wear seatbelts. As a parent, though, it’s up to you to not only tell your children to wear seat belts while driving but to set an example yourself. You should always be wearing your seat belt so your teenager knows that it’s the right thing to do.
  • Speeding: Unfortunately, when teenagers are granted the privilege to drive, many take advantage of the freedom and go too far – and we mean speeding. Speeding is one of the leading causes of car accidents and teenagers should understand how dangerous excessive speeding can be.

At our agency we want Las Vegas residents to get the best information available at all times. In addition to providing auto insurance, we also want to educate our customers on things like teenage driving risks. We hope you found this helpful!
